You can pay by cash, debit card, credit card or National Rail vouchers. Unfortunately we can no longer accept personal cheques at our ticket offices. We can accept company cheques if you’re buying an annual season ticket.
Can I pay for Thameslink with contactless?
You can use your Oyster card or contactless payment card on Thameslink services in London Zones 1-6. Either buy or top up a Transport for London Oyster card or use a contactless debit or credit card debit or credit card to get around.
Do you need to buy a ticket to use Thameslink?
Do I need a ticket to travel? Yes, you’ll need a valid ticket (or permit to travel) to travel on our trains. If you travel on a train without a ticket, you’ll be asked to pay the full single or return fare or, may be given a penalty fare.
Can you pay for Thameslink with oyster?

The correct fare is automatically deducted from your card. You can use your Oyster card on all Thameslink trains within the London Zones 1-6 – as well as on buses, Tubes, Trams, The Docklands Light Railway, London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services in London.
What happens if you don’t tap out Thameslink?
The penalty fare will either be £20, or twice the full single fare from the station where you got on to the next station at which the train stops, whichever is the bigger amount. If you want to travel beyond the next station, you must also pay the relevant fare from that station to your final destination.

Should I buy Thameslink ticket in advance?
Whether you’re heading to the coast, city or countryside, Advance train tickets are the best way to book ahead and save money. You need to be quick though, the amount of Advance tickets available are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!
Is contactless cheaper than buying a ticket?
You can add money to an Oyster card or use contactless (card or device) straight away. You only pay for the journeys you make and it’s cheaper than buying a paper single or return ticket (train companies may offer special deals on some journeys).
Is London Thameslink the same as London Bridge?
London Bridge station is located on the south-eastern corner of central London, but when heading towards London, the Southeastern and Thameslink trains continue beyond London Bridge to call at other stations closer to the city centre.

How does contactless payment work on trains?
Always touch in and out on a YELLOW reader with the same contactless payment card, or device at the start of your journey and touch out at the end, even if the gates are open, to ensure you pay the right fare.
Can you tap your debit card on the train?

How do I tap with my card?
Hold your card within 1–2 inches of the Contactless SymbolOpens Dialog on the terminal. Tap or hold your card flat over the Contactless Symbol, facing up, when prompted by the cashier or terminal. Some merchants may ask you to sign for the purchase, or to enter your PIN. Your payment should be completed in seconds.
How do I know if my card can tap to pay?
Look for the contactless symbol on the card reader. The four curved lines that appear on your card should also appear on contactless-enabled card readers. When prompted, hold the card within one to two inches of the contactless symbol.
