How do I get compost in Vancouver?
Pick up your compost at the landfill
Bring your own shovel and containers to the residential drop-off area at the landfill. Our loader is available between 7:30am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 5:30pm on weekends and statutory holidays.
Can paper towels compost Vancouver?
Wipes do not go in the green bin, even the ones labelled “compostable” or “biodegradable”. Put them in the garbage. Any products with non-edible cleaning chemicals (like wipes or used paper towels) should go in the garbage, not the green bin.

Can I just bury my compost?
Use a shovel to chop and mix the wastes into the soil to speed composting. Cover food scraps with at least 8 inches of soil to prevent rodents and pets from digging them up. Buried food scraps may take from two to six months to decompose, depending on soil temperature, moisture, worm population and what is buried.
