DRESS CODE: There is no set dress code for the daytime of the Show for General Entry ticket holders, although we remind visitors it is a greenfield site and footing may be variable, and the weather in May is very changeable!
What do spectators wear to a horse show?
You will see most people in riding clothes or jeans, so feel free to wear jeans or leggings, sneakers and a casual top. The top doesn’t even have to have a collar, as long as it is well-fitted and conservative.
What do you wear to a local horse show?
Starched jeans or show pants; blouse with pin or tie; western hat; western boots, belt and buckle. Simple vests, blazers, short jackets also appropriate. Same for local/regional levels, with dressier vest, blazer, or jacket. Take care to color coordinate with the horse, but don’t overshadow the horse with glitz.
Can you wear riding tights to a horse show?
Matching your shirt with a clean pair of riding breeches or a pair of riding tights will work as well.
What happens at the Windsor horse show?
In a typical year the Show hosts 4* and 3* International Show Jumping as well as 4* International Dressage and 4* International Carriage Driving. There are also national classes in Show jumping, and Windsor is one of the UK’s premier Showing events. A General Entry ticket allows you access to the whole showground.

Flowing scarves, baggy pants, bulky sweaters with loose waists, and other sloppy or loose clothing can get caught on the saddle if you should fall off. Getting caught half-way down means you could get dragged, and that is far more dangerous than falling clear of the horse.

What should I do the day before my horse show?
One day before the horse show:
Bathe, clip, and band/braid your horse, so you’ll have one less thing to do the morning of the show. Then put on his blanket or sheet and a tail bag to keep him clean. Also, slip a slinky over his mane to keep your bands/braids show-ready.
