Can you use cash on Brampton Transit?
Passengers can pay using cash or their PRESTO card on Brampton Transit and Züm. If you are paying with cash, please have the exact fare when boarding.
How much is a PRESTO card in Brampton?
$6.00
A PRESTO card costs $6.00 and is non-refundable. A protective card sleeve can be purchased for $2.00. A $0.05 minimum load is required upon purchase and at each reloading. The $0.05 can be used towards a Brampton Transit pass (weekly or monthly).

How does the bus app work?
GPS devices are placed in the buses, and these devices stream their real time location on to a map. On the basis of this stream of data, the ETA’s are computed for every stop. No problem! Use the credit card on your phone or watch for a convenient way to pay your fare. Make your payment through the credit cards that you’ve added to the mobile wallet on your phone or watch. Use your phone or watch to tap on and off at a PRESTO device, just like you would with a physical card.

You can activate your new card online, through our Chat feature, or by phone at 1-877-378-6123 using the PIN you selected. Cards purchased without an account can be used right away but do not have balance protection or access to other PRESTO features.

Core features of the app will always remain free! It’s important to us that everyone who depends on Transit can continue to do so.
How do I use my iPhone as a transit reader?
Hold the top of your iPhone or the display of your Apple Watch near the contactless reader. When the transaction is successful, a checkmark and Done appear on your device. If you’re riding transit, the terminal gate opens and might beep.

PRESTO card fares are a bit cheaper, and more convenient than paying for rides with cash. For example, a single fare for a Toronto bus or subway will cost you $3.25 in cash, and $3.20 with a PRESTO card.
Can you pay PRESTO with cash?
You need a PRESTO Card, one-ride, two-ride or day pass PRESTO Ticket, TTC ticket, token, day pass, transfer, or exact cash to pay your fare on the TTC. Operators on buses and streetcars do not sell fares or carry change, so you must have a form of payment ready before you board a vehicle.
