Can dogs go to zoo Lights Calgary?
It’s dark and the zoo is set up very specifically to keep people in certain areas. If you plan on coming to the Calgary Zoo with a service dog (Calgary ZOOLIGHTS or not), make sure you pre-register. You won’t be allowed to just bring dogs into the Zoo. See their service animal policy here.
Can you see the animals at zoo Lights Calgary?
At ZOOLIGHTS, you don’t get to see any animals. At night, most animals like to sleep in a quiet place. That means that I won’t be able to see them on my visit, and that is ok.

Can dogs be around flashing lights?
Using most camera flashes and monolights on dogs are perfectly safe. In fact, flash light is much safer and substantially less powerful than even natural light. Flash may temporarily disorient a subject and cause spots to appear before their eyes. But it will not damage your eyes like staring into the Sun would.
Can you walk dogs in thunder and lightning?
Always keep your dog indoors during thunderstorms. If storms are looming, hold off on walks – it’ll keep you both dry and safe as well. Switching the TV or radio on might help to muffle the sound, but make sure it’s not too loud and don’t try this if your dog isn’t used to these household noises already.

How long does it take to walk through Calgary Zoo? For adults, I recommend at least 2 hours to walk through the Zoo. However, if you visit with children, I recommend at least 3 hours or even a whole day. It’s a day well spent with restaurants, playgrounds, and so many areas with animals.

You must park and enter the zoo grounds through our North Lot (Alberta Plaza) only. The West Gate will be closed. Payment machines are located at the North Lot (Alberta Plaza) and accept credit card or coins.

It’s best to go right when they open. For one thing, most of the animals are more active in the morning and you will often get a chance to witness them being fed. Also, going first thing in the morning means you’re one of the first to enter the zoo.
