Are Cambridge lectures open to the public?
Trinity College hosts a number of Public Lectures, which take place on a regular basis (usually either annually or biannually). The lectures are open to all, with no ticket required.
Are Cambridge lectures recorded?
Disabled students at the University of Cambridge have said they may face an “unfair disadvantage” if lectures are not recorded. For the academic year of 2022-2023, recording lectures will be “expected” but not required, with some departments deciding not to record lectures as standard.

Can you just walk around Cambridge University?
You are very very limited in where you can walk to even see the exteriors and can’t go in to any of the buildings and most don’t let you even walk around outside in the courtyard. While the University itself was disappointing, Cambridge is still worth a visit. Loved the punt tour and the pubs are awesome.
Can anyone attend lectures?
Registration is required if you want to take an exam and get a certificate, but usually not if you are just interested in the knowledge. So for most lectures it would be totally OK to just attend and listen.
How many hours a day do Cambridge students study?
During term time, you’re expected to spend an average of 42-46 hours a week on your academic studies (including teaching/contact time and independent study), and you also need to undertake some work, such as further reading or research, revision or assignments, during the vacations.
Are you allowed to attend lectures without being enrolled?
Professors typically won’t ask if you’re enrolled in their class if you walk in, they simply assume you are and won’t suspect unless you behave suspiciously or are disrupting the class.

Is it OK to sit in on a lecture?
Sitting in on large lectures is pretty easy (so long as you aren’t disruptive), whereas it’s always good to ask permission to sit in on smaller, more intimate classes. If you happen to meet any advisors during your visit, you can always ask them which classes to sit in on.
Can you sit in a random lecture?
Yes, you can! I have been seated in many classes when I am not enrolled, and it just a little hard to get online materials sometimes. But if you know someone who is officially enrolled, then you can get material from them.
Do Cambridge students have a social life?
Social life is very active at Downing, with plenty of student-run societies and places in College to meet with friends. The Lord Butterfield café is a very popular space in the College and is where many of the College’s social events take place.
