How hard is it to get into maths at Cambridge?
To be awarded a place to study maths at Cambridge, you’re very likely to have been the best in your school at the subject and have found getting the top grades in your A-levels easy. Then, once you’re at Cambridge, statistically there’s a 50% chance you’re below average.

Does Oxford look at GCSEs?
GCSEs will be taken in to account when we consider your application but they are just one aspect that we look at. GCSE results will be considered alongside your personal statement, academic reference, predicted grades and performance in any written work or written test required for your course.

In a mathematics interview you will be asked to solve some mathematical problems. That’s all: maths, followed by some more maths. All we are interested in is your ability to tackle mathematical problems. There are no trick questions.
