Without having the permission of the postmaster, no you can not record anything within the post office. If charged by the feds, the fines can be up to $10,000 and 30 days in federal prison. And YES it is federal, not local court that you end up in.

It is illegal to record someone without permission in Canada. Based on a civil lawsuit, illegally recording someone could result in heavy fines or imprisonment. Therefore, you file a lawsuit against an individual if you feel they’re trespassing your privacy.

Can I film inside a LCBO?
Members of the media wishing to take photographs or film on LCBO premises or at LCBO events off LCBO premises must make a prior written request to the LCBO Corporate Communications Department, per the media contacts listed.
Can you record in LCBO?
Customers are encouraged to use their smart phone cameras to read QR codes and bar codes on all products in LCBO stores. Customers may also take photographs of products for their own use or to share with others. For privacy reasons, customers are not permitted to take photographs of other patrons or of LCBO employees.
Can I film in Costco?
Individuals and businesses who wish to film, photograph, or broadcast at any Costco location must simply fill out a Media Request Form. Once the form is submitted, you can expect a minimum of three business days for approval. If approved, we’ll also ask that you submit a “Costco Filming Agreement.”

Can you get free tape at the post office?
The phone number to order your free packing tape is 1–800–275–8777. Before you do this, note that this tape can only be used on plain boxes that are mailed via Priority Mail, NOT on USPS Priority boxes.
Is it illegal to tape something to a mailbox?
It’s illegal to tamper with mailboxes. You can’t place non-postage stamped mailers inside mailboxes or hang them on the outside of a mailbox. Doing so can result in a hefty fine for each infraction. It can even lead to a federal investigation because mailbox tampering is considered a federal crime.
