A GCKey is a unique electronic credential (username and password) that allows you to communicate securely with online government services. The Government of Canada, as the service provider, issues these credentials to individuals so they can access government online services.
How do I find my GCKey?
What do I do if I lost my GCKey username or password?
- Go to the sign-in page for GCKey.
- Click on “Forgot your username?”
- Enter the email associated with your account. Your username will be sent to that email.
Why is GCKey required?
For security purposes, you will need to use the GCKey service provided by the Government of Canada to open your saved application when using the link provided from within the email. A GCKey: is a unique credential (username/password) protects your communication with the Government of Canada.
How do I create a GCKey account?
Creating a GCKey Account
- Choose your preferred language by selecting either the English or Français button.
- Select the Continue to GCKey button.
- Select the Sign-Up button to the right of your screen.

How long does a GCKey last?
Your GCKey can expire. The system requires you to use your GCKey at least once every two years, otherwise it will expire. If your GCKey expires, you will be required to register for a new one; you will also need to re-register with any online service you were previously using to access the Victims Portal.
How do I know if my visa is approved?
At the end of your immigrant visa interview, the consular officer will inform you whether your visa application is approved or denied. Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a consular officer.

How do I access my Service Canada account?
My Service Canada Account ( MSCA ) is a secure online portal.
If you already have an access code or a provincial digital ID, choose an option to access MSCA :
- Sign in with GCKey.
- Sign in with your bank.
- Sign in with your province.
Can I have two GCKey accounts?
Yes, but we do not recommend having multiple GCKeys to access Government of Canada services.
Can I delete my GCKey account?
If you no longer want to use your GCKey, you can revoke it: Sign into your account. Choose the “Revoke your GCKey” button in the options menu. Enter your current password to confirm that you want to revoke your GCKey.

Can visa be rejected after approval?

Do you get an email when your visa is approved?
Yes. When your eTA is approved, you will receive an email confirmation.
Is the GCKey the same for CRA and Service Canada?
Yes. You can use the same GCKey credential to access all available online services, with the exception of the CRA services. Using the same credential to access many services is convenient, as you don’t have to remember several username and passwords.

How long does it take to get Service Canada access code?
Service Canada will provide you with an access code. You need this code to register for MSCA. If you apply online, you will receive your access code by mail within 5 to 10 business days.
Can I get my t4 from Service Canada?
Getting your T4E
Your T4E is available as early as February 1 through My Service Canada Account (MSCA). You can view, print and submit a copy of it with your Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tax return. To access your T4E online, you need to log in or register for MSCA. You can also get your T4E by mail.
How do I link GCKey with IRCC?
To link an application:
- Follow the steps to sign into your online account or create a new one.
- In your account, under “View the applications you submitted”, click on “Add (link) your application to your account to check your status”.
- Enter the information exactly as you did on your original application.
What do I do if I forgot my GCKey password?
If you were locked out of your account because you forgot your password, it will be locked for 24 hours and then you can recover your password. If you forgot the answers to your security questions, you’ll have to create a new account.
Can I delete my Service Canada account?
To delete your profile, follow these steps: On the main page of your account, go to the “What would you like to do today?” section. Scroll down to the “Continue my profile / application, not yet submitted” section. Click on the “Delete profile” button.
How long it takes to get visa after biometric Canada 2022?
