The British Library welcomes anyone undertaking research at their reading rooms at St Pancras in London, which are only 4 stops on the underground from our London Campus. You will need a free Reader Pass to use the facilities; information on how you can register for one is on the British Library’s website.
Can anyone study at the London Library?
Can you work or study in the Reading Rooms? Yes. If you have a Reader Pass you can study at the British Library, even if you’re not using any collection items.

Are libraries actually free?
They are not free. Most taxpayers do not understand how much public libraries pay in order to provide services. Paper books can be cheap, as can DVDs, but databases and eBooks are very expensive and are becoming increasingly more expensive.
Can I do my homework at library?
A library is also a great place for students to work with their study group or a tutor. Libraries have lots of private study rooms that can be reserved in advance and allow students a more private environment where they can talk at a normal level and work through a study guide or assignment.
Can you just go to the London Library?
Please remember, booking is essential in order to visit the Library and browse the stacks or use the reading rooms. Members will not be permitted beyond the Issue Hall without having a pre-booked day pass.
How do I get a London library card?
If you do not already have a London Public Library card for your personal use, we encourage you to apply.
Simply show us your personal ID and proof of employment:

Anyone living in the UK is legally entitled to borrow books for free from public libraries, ensuring that everyone can have equal access to the power and pleasure of reading, information and ideas, and the skill and expertise of the professional librarian.
Do you need a pass for British Library?
Without a Reader Pass, you won’t be able to use our Reading Rooms or view items you have requested in advance.
Can the public go to the British Library?
Everyone is welcome to visit our exhibition galleries and public spaces. To use the Reading Rooms at St Pancras and Boston Spa you will need to register for a Reader Pass.
Where Can UK citizens study for free?
Currently, any British student can study at a university in any EU or EEA country (Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein), provided he or she fulfils the entry requirements of that institution. If the home students do not pay any fees, the UK students are also entitled to study for free.

What you Cannot do in library?
Readers should not mark, underline, dog-ear, write, tear pages or otherwise damage the library documents. Newspapers, magazines and journals must be read only in the library on specific tables and should not be taken to any other reading areas. No library material can be taken out of the library without permission.
Can anyone go to King’s library?
The King’s College London Libraries are not open to members of the public, except for the Maughan Library: Open House festival.
Can a middle class student study in London?
Since you have mentioned that you are from middle class then its not possible for you to bear the expenses in UK which is very high. You can take loan for studies but that will be a burden too.
